Lakeside Nursing Home Covid Response
At Lakeside, we take the covid-19 pandemic seriously. This entails doing all possible to protect the health, safety and well-being of residents, visitors and team members. All precautions are taken concerning safety, care, cleanliness and hygiene. Robust infection control has been implemented fully in line with Government and Public Health England recommendations. Our Coronavirus protection measures include:
• Staff wearing full PPE
• Regular testing and temperature checking of residents and staff
• Social distancing
• Enhanced intensive cleaning
• COVID-19 and infection control training for all staff
• Safe, indoor visiting
Staying connected
We do all possible to keep residents connected with their loved ones. For many residents, visits are the focal point of their day. We understand that depriving them of this special time together would be upsetting for all concerned. With this in mind, we have mobile tablets available so that visits can take place virtually via video chat at any time. This also applies where the family may be self- isolating due to infection. Whilst we appreciate the presence of Covid 19, we don’t let it negatively affect the lives of our residents. We are still able to run a full programme of engaging activities, using innovative methods to keep residents connected whilst reducing the risk of social isolation. This includes making use of our in house facilities, coordinating 1-2-1 activities and following a plan of safe, socially distanced group activities to keep residents occupied and entertained. Residents can still spend time in the gardens when the weather is good whilst adhering to social distancing.
